Frequently Asked Questions about the Community Service Log  

1. Where can I get the log?
Pick one up in the counseling office, or click here for a printable copy.


2. When can I log in service hours?
Any service hours that you earn throughout your high school career (9th grade through 12th grade) can be included on your log.


3. What kinds of activities can I log in as service activities?
Service may include community, hospital, church, scout, school, or club activities that help others who are in need. As of 2009, sports managers who receive a varsity letter can count 40% of their hours as community service. If a manager does not receive a varsity letter, they can count 100% of their hours. Of course, you may not earn hours for services for which you are paid.  You can click here for a list of suggestions.


4. When & where do I turn in my community service log?
At the end of your senior year, turn your log in to Ms. Roland in the Guidance Office.  Due date TBA.


5. What does (40-99) documented hours on the log earn?
Community Service Seal on diploma, recognition at the Honors Breakfast Ceremony in the spring, and a certificate given.


6. What does 100+ hours documented on the log earn?
Community Service Seal on diploma, recognition at Honors Night Ceremony in the spring, and certificate given.


7. What does the senior who logs the most cumulative hours (over 4 yrs) earn?
Community Service Seal on diploma, recognition, plaque & $500 scholarship sponsored by NGHS PTSA
